Texas is poised to enter the 2026-27 season as a consensus preseason top-five program. The Longhorns won three NCAA Tournament games last season, advancing to the Sweet 16 and finishing 21-15 overall. Head coach Sean Miller, entering his second season with the program, welcomes one of the nation’s most heralded recruiting classes that includes 11 newcomers of freshmen and transfers.
Baylor head coach Scott Drew is entering his 24th season in Waco, making him the fifth-longest tenured active head coach in the nation. The Bears advanced to the semifinals of the College Basketball Crown last season and aim to build off that run with an influx of new talent coming into the program.
Texas holds a 165-98 advantage in the all-time series, with the last meeting coming in 2024 in what was the Longhorns’ final year in the Big 12. Prior to Texas’ move to the SEC, the two programs had faced at least once each year since 1909 as each had been longtime members of the Southwest Conference and the Big 12.
