Grammy-nominated comedian, actor and television host George Lopez returns to the Frost Bank Center on Saturday, August 10 with special guest Robert Rodriguez’s CHINGON Band.
This show marks the 15th anniversary of his HBO stand-up special, “Tall, Dark & Chicano,” which was filmed live at this venue on Aug. 8, 2009. Lopez, who has had major success in the Lonestar State over the course of his career, is looking to make these shows even bigger – Texas style.
Robert Rodriguez’s CHINGON Band is the musical collective created by film director and composer Robert Rodriguez that cinematically fuses the imagery of Mexican culture and its music, using electrified mariachi sounds and gritty garage rock. His Chingon music is heavily featured in the films: Sin City, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Kill Bill 2, Planet Terror, Alita Battle Angel, and Machete.
